Do You Need Storage?

Now that your house is sold and your packed and ready to move, do you have another house to move into? If not, you will need to consider where you will put your things until you do get a house.

There are mini-storage units all over the country! Your job will be to choose the one that is right for you.

Or maybe a friend or relative has a garage or shed or barn in the area you are moving to who will let you use it (free or maybe for a small fee).

We live a long distance from town, so when we moved here, we bought an old moving van (trailer) to use for a storage unit right on our own property.

Ron rented a semi-tractor and moved the trailer from our old house to the property where we were going to build. That way we had all our stuff right there with us. And we needed many of the tools in it to do our building.

We use that trailer still today as a tool shed!

Maybe you will be renting a small apartment or house in the new area you are moving to. That way you will have time to look around and decide just where you will want to live.

In that case, make sure you pack accordingly so you will have access to the items you will need until you do move into a permanent home.

When putting your things into your unit, be sure to have everything packed into moving and storage boxes. That way when you are ready to move everything into your new house, it will be ready to go.

Locate A Site

Do an on-line search for a self-storage company near where you are moving to. Or check the yellow pages. Don't forget to check with the local BBB for information regarding their reputation.

TIP: Some people rent a stg. unit when their house is put up for sale. That way their home won't look cluttered. But a warning here -- don't get into the habit of saving everything! You surely don't want to haul unnecessary things to your new house. Excessive clutter makes for stressful living conditions.
