RENTAL TRUCKS REVIEW
U-HAUL
We have rented U-haul moving trailers (as well as their rental trucks) many, many times. Moving trailer rentals are excellent for local moves or to pull behind a u-haul truck if you need more room than what is available in the truck alone. And this would cost a lot less than 2 rental trucks. For a one way moving truck rental, u-haul is a great choice because they have locations all over the country. Who hasn't heard of U-haul? They have been doing this business for 60 years. And they know what customers want and expect. Their moving trailer rental centers have what you need for auto shipping assistance, too. You can rent a car hauling trailer or a car towing dolly. These can easily be pulled behind a pick-up truck or the moving truck. Truck Sizes Your choices for local and one way moving truck rental are: 10', 14', 17', 24', and 26'. They all run on gas rather than diesel. The trucks have air-ride suspension. Also provided for your peace of mind is roadside assistance. Trailer Sizes The enclosed moving trailers available are: 4 x 8, 5 x 8, and 6 x 12. We just recently rented the largest size for a one way trip to Portland, Oregon. It was in very good condition, didn't leak (which is important here!), and was easy to tow. The one thing I didn't like was the roof was pretty low. So while loading and unloading, we had to walk stooped over, and I did bump my head a couple times. :-( U-haul also rents open trailers. I know one size available is 5 x 9, and we've used it for hauling lawn care tools and equipment, as well as the riding lawnmower. It comes with a drive up loading ramp. (and you can't bump your head!) They also sell and install hitches. Other Necessities You can rent the equipment(like dollies and furniture pads) needed to complete your move. And you may purchase moving boxes and packing supplies there, too.
