PACKING YOURSELF
Dining Room
GREAT packing tips to guide you in packing your dining room. When packing yourself, these free packing tips will be of immense help to you. If you have a large dining room complete with a china cabinet, curio cabinet, and maybe a buffet, this will be a tedious room to pack. You may want to do this room first and get it out of the way. That is if you don't have any entertaining planned before your move. The moving boxes used for this room are dishpacks (and maybe a LOT of them :-) ), 3 cubes, and book cartons. China Pack all china, stemware, crystal, and knick-knacks in dishpacks. Use plenty of paper and tissue. Plates will be wrapped with paper in between, then a bundle of 4 will be wrapped again in 2-3 sheets of paper. Put these on the bottom of the dishpack (after a cushion layer has been put down first. 2 crumpled sheets in each corner and 2 in the center. Then 2 sheets over all this to make a platform). Plates are best packed up on their edge so they won't break from all the weight that will probably be on top of them. The next 2 layers will get smaller and lighter as you go along. Use a cushion of paper between each layer. Don't make the dishpack so heavy that no one can lift it. :-( Finally, finish off the dishpack with a cushion layer of paper, tablecloths, or placemats, & napkins. Stemware When I pack stemware, I wrap each glass with a piece of soft tissue (or soft paper towels), then I wrap each of these with a piece of newsprint, and then with one more piece of newsprint. Place them in the dishpack standing upright. TIP: Whenever wrapping ANYTHING, keep the bottom to your left (or right) all the time. That way you will automatically know which way to put it in the box so that it is standing upright. I hope these moving tips have helped you. But if you need help with a particular problem piece, just contact us.
