PACKING YOURSELF

Closets

When packing yourself, review these moving and packing tips. These TERRIFIC free packing tips will guide you through packing ALL your closets!

These areas are the easiest to pack IF you use the clothes wardrobe moving boxes. Wardrobes are specialty boxes that are heavy duty and have a metal hanging bar.

Other moving boxes you will use are the 3 and 4.5 cube cartons.

While putting the hanging clothes on the hanging bar, it is wise to try to put all the shorter items (shirts, pants) together so that you will have room at the bottom of the box for a large bulky (but NOT heavy) item, like a wicker basket, large plastic toy, or clothes hamper.

TIP: Don't just throw a bunch of shoes and boots into the bottom of the wardrobe box. Not only will they get jostled around and get scuffed up, but they could get your clothes soiled.

All other items from the closet, like gloves, caps, shoes, and boots will easily be packed into 3 and 4.5 cube cartons.

If you have a lot of board games and puzzles stored in the closet, I've found that starting with a 4.5 cube is the best way to go.

The long games like Monopoly won't fit into a 3 cube, so by starting with a larger box you will be sure to fit all the closet contents into just a few boxes.

Wrap the games in paper (and put on a piece of tape to keep the paper from slipping off) so that any small pieces won't be lost. Remember though not to make the boxes too heavy.
