Your final cost could be lower or higher than the original estimate. The final cost is determined by weight and additional services, like packing, unpacking, appliance service, etc. A salesperson will do a physical survey at your home to determine what the approximate cost of your move will be. They will ask you questions about your destination and new home. "Are there stairs?" "Will we be able to get our truck to your new home?," etc. This moving cost quote is also based on the actual weight of your household shipment. So if the weight goes below the estimated weight, then the charges will be less. If the actual weight goes over, you will only have to pay 10% more than the estimate at the time of delivery. (110% total) And the balance will be due usually within 30 days. Also any additional services (not listed on estimate) either requested or required will also be payable within 30 days of delivery. A non-binding moving company quote is the most common estimate these days.
