DITY MOVE
Sometimes a military member is offered a flat rate reimbursement for moving themselves. This is called a DITY Move (DoITYourself). The members rank usually determines how much weight they are entitled to. This sounds very tempting, but check out all aspects before doing this yourself. You will be responsible for ALL costs pertaining to your move. Like: * packing material * truck rental * fuel for that truck * equipment rental (dollies, pads, tape gun) * damage to your furniture or belongings while moving * and your time, for packing yourself, loading, moving, and driving A Dity Move could be a VERY good avenue if you don't have a lot of stuff. But, if you have a lot of furniture, dishes, holiday decor, collectables, toys, and other belongings, you might want to leave the moving to the professionals.
